Divine Mercy Chapel

On Sunday, April 30, 2000, the people of God the world over rejoiced as the name of Maria Faustina Kowalska was written into the Book of Saints and our Holy Father declared her St Faustina.  On that day our Community, whilst rejoicing with the Universal Church, also celebrated the official blessing and opening of our new Adoration Chapel, dedicated to the Divine Mercy – a sanctuary where we pray many would come to know the love and mercy of our Eternal Father.

It may sound coincidental but, at that time, we were reminded that when expanding our Centre three years before, a group of Community members prayed before work began on the new building and received the following prophesy:

“I say to you this place will be a haven to my people.  You do not know them and they do not know you but they will come here in hundreds and thousands.  They will come in from the storms and stress outside.  They will come in as chicks run to the comfort of their mother’s wings when the rain begins to fall.”

Where that group of people stood is now the Blessed Sacrament Chapel.

For many years, our Community has spread the devotion to the Divine Mercy and every afternoon, during the hour of Great Mercy at 3.00 pm, the Divine Mercy Chaplet is prayed.  As apostles of mercy, we truly believe that at this time in the history of the Church, God wants His people to know of His unfathomable mercy and love and that this mercy and love is available to everyone.  As we receive and live in His mercy, so we are called to extend mercy and forgiveness to others.
