Motorbike to Mayaro

When
Rose came out of the convent, we got a little motor bike (PU100). We packed the
bike to go on retreat for two weeks in Mayaro. I don’t know if you have ever
seen a motor bike packed for two weeks, carrying two persons and a guitar. We
both wore very big coats with large pockets; we had the bath suits in one
pocket, the towel in the other. We looked like Santa Claus. As we drove into
Mayaro the first thing we did was to go to a little shop and eat a lappe roti!
We had two retreats, and after that we began a series of prayer meetings in January 1976. This was just a few months after Rose came out. We said to the Lord that every Wednesday night, no matter what else happened, we would have a prayer meeting.
Many nights, it was just Rose and myself. Father Christian Pereira would come some evenings to share Scripture with us and Patsy Fahey and others would come now and then. We journeyed like that and did a little ministry here and there until we moved to the apartment in Lynch Drive, Maraval, which soon became a life-giving center for many.
