Innovations in Diocese of
Roseau
Inaugurated the Diocesan Synod. After two years of
preparatory planning and meetings the second session of a two-part Synod,
concentrating on "follow-up" and implementation, was held in
1996. The involvement of the faithful in all aspects of this extremely
thorough Synod was whole-hearted and the results are to be seen in the
Diocese. Each aspect of Church life was studied. Four areas were selected
for on-going pastoral care: family life, youth, training and financing as
a means towards the other three.
Promoted the fostering of vocations to the priesthood and religious life
Undertook the modernisation of Church structures, among which was the
appointment of the first woman Diocesan Chancellor.
Created the Dominica Catholic, a quarterly diocesan newspaper which
concentrates on solid doctrinal formation.
