This camp took place over a period of five days. Every day we would gather at around 9 o’clock when the majority of the children had arrived. We would stand in a circle and the children would be taught a new song every day. They seemed to enjoy learning these along with actions they learnt to go with each song. They also enjoyed singing songs such as “Father Abraham” and “Jesus Love”.

Following this, they broke up into different groups according to their ages. The names of the groups were “Felix the Fox”, “Olivia the Owl” and “Liz the Lizard”. They were given folders in which they would keep all the different craft they would do for the camp and were allowed to decorate it as they pleased. After the break, some of the younger children would go upstairs to watch a movie while the older ones stayed downstairs and played other games. They would then break for lunch, after which they usually did craft. This craft would last the rest of the afternoon until it had come to the end of the day where we would once again end in song and prayer, repeating the song that was taught to them that day.

Usually every day this same routine was repeated except for the Thursday. That day, we went on the Water Taxi to south Trinidad where we spent the day at Nazareth house. It was a time for the children to cool down from the week’s activities. Upon arriving we had realized that they were giving out food to the poor and so we thought it would be a good idea to sing to them all the songs that the children had been taught during the week. After, they watched a movie and then were allowed to run free around the enclosed area under the watchful eye of our helpers. Later on in the afternoon we came back to the north of Trinidad and the children went home to come back the next day for the final day of this eventful week.  (by Olivia Seheult, one of the assistants)
