Third Annual ‘Living Water Men Can Cook Too’
Family Fun Day - January 21st , 2008

The men of the Community once again came out to show off their culinary talents at what has become an annual Community event here in Barbados.

They taunted our palates with a wide variety of favourites including souse, pepperpot, curry, pelau, true Bajan flying fish, baked chicken, a ‘big soup’, barbecue pigtails and much more. There was even dessert! Any New Year resolutions about a new diet plan was certainly forgotten as everyone rolled back their sleeves and settled in for an all day eating session.

The event gives the Community an opportunity to come together with their families and get to know each other a little better. There is a lot of laughter and ‘ole talk’, and it is always lovely to see the children getting along so well – from tots to teens. A spontaneous game of football among the boys quickly became an all day activity. Some of the teens gathered together in little groups to chat or watch the football game while the little ones rode their bikes and scooters. There were even horses to ride and a few of the adults jumped at the opportunity - lining up very patiently behind the children waiting for their turns.

A few games of Musical Chairs had everyone on their feet - shouting and cheering. There was certainly a lot to shout about as there was quite a bit of ‘cheating’ going on, this of course only added to the laughter.
In the end everyone had a wonderful time together and went home tired, happy and very full. A hearty congrats to the men for once again putting together a great event for us all to enjoy.
