LWC TEENS' AUGUST 2005 MINISTRY
Counting steps, bruises, and the cost of living in Christ, teens from our north and south ministries spent six days together at a camp at Nazareth House – our San Fernando Centre – to enter into World Youth Day activities and to rehearse for a September 25 production at Presentation College. From 15 – 21 August, dance, drama and singing rehearsals went hand in hand with cleaning out the poor ministry room, a hospital visit and an evening of praise and worship.

Sweltering afternoons and late nights were no intimidation to those who dedicated
themselves to learning and perfecting routines for one of the major dance
sequences of the production. And folks long-accustomed to ridicule whenever they
warbled their favourite tunes heard strangely sweet sounds from their throats,
elicited by the patient musical director.
A visit
to the Pointe-a-Pierre Wildfowl Trust early in the week was a hit, as was a
visit to an elderly covenant member in hospital. With the hospital’s permission,
the group prayed with her and quietly sang two of the pieces from the
production. They also sang the meditation hymn at Saturday afternoon mass St
Joseph’s Church, at the invitation of parish priest, Fr Benedict Peters.

An evening of praise and worship with the south-based young adult group opened up many hearts to the various ways in which God can (and does!) touch lives. And, as part of their ministry to the Community, the teens also cleaned out and re-packed our food bank, where food parcels are prepared for those we serve in our poor ministry. They returned to their families exhausted on Sunday, after a football match, dance and drama rehearsals and an all-night vigil sapped all their energy, but not their enthusiasm! (More Photos.......)
