| Tribute by Rhonda
Maingot, Co-Foundress
of the Living Water Community
The Archbishop is
in the chapel if anyone would like the Sacrament of reconciliation.
This announcement has been heard over the loudspeakers at
Archbishops House, during the weekly prayer meeting nearly every Wednesday night for
the past 21 years.
Unless he had to officiate at a Confirmation Ceremony or was out of
the country, His Grace, faithfully would make his way either back to Archbishops
House or from his office, to this chapel, to be available to administer this sacrament
that he treasured so much. Over the years
how many of us must have benefited from such dedication and love of this great treasure of
our faith, from a great treasure of our Church, Anthony Pantin.
His Grace, Archbishop Anthony Pantin has been a father and friend,
guardian and spiritual guide to our Community since the beginning of our now established
new Ecclesial Movement, Living Water Community.
In his wisdom, and trusting in the new movement of the Spirit
in the Church, he allowed us the grace and freedom to respond to the Holy Spirit in
following a new call to Community life and ministry within the Church and the wider
community, as we listened to the cries of the spiritually and materially poor in our
beloved country.
His invitation to us on Christmas night in 1978 at the St Anns
Roundabout Public Creche, to come to his house to have our weekly prayer meetings, has
been for our Community a tremendous sign of acceptance and trust in the work of the Holy
Spirit in the Church.
For these 21 years, His Grace has been there for us, always ready to
greet all who came to his home on Wednesday evenings, always ready with the joke of
the day, and always encouraging us and leading us on.
Over the years, His Grace had become for me, personally, a good
friend, a brother. I treasure the years of
friendship with such a holy man of God, I pray that his wonderful spirit will always be
alive in our Community and that the legacy of love and life that he has left, will always
be incarnate in my life.
Come Anthony, you
faithful friend of God, come and enter into the
Kingdom your Father has prepared for you.
