During the third week of Advent, our Community truly
reflected the spirit of joy as we celebrated
our brother, Roger Paponnette’s, recent ordination to the Presbyterate.
In a moving dual ceremony, Fr. Paponnette and the new
Fr. Matthew D’Hereaux were ordained
by His Grace,
Archbishop Edward Gilbert, on Saturday 14 December, 2002 at the Cathedral of the
Immaculate Conception, Port of Spain.
Before a packed congregation comprising family,
friends and representatives of various religious orders, communities,
and parishes, Frs. Paponnette and D’Hereaux
appeared calm and confident
as they were presented for ordination by
Rector of the Seminary of St John Vianney and the
Uganda Martyrs, Fr. Michael de Verteuil.
As they received the kiss of peace from their brother
priests, the congregation burst into spontaneous applause for the
two young men who so openly and willingly chose
to give their lives
for the Gospel and the people of God.
Fr. Roger is the fourth priest to be ordained from the Living Water Community.
