`

 It all shows that God’s judgement is just, and the purpose of
it is that you may be found worthy of the
kingdom of God;
it is for the sake of this that you are suffering now”
(2 Thess 1:5)

In this letter from St. Paul to the Church in Thessalonika, Paul commends the Church and expresses his gratitude for their constancy of faith and their love for each other, despite the persecutions and hardships which they had to bear.   The purpose,  he explained, was that it showed that God’s judgement was just and also that they may be found worthy of the Kingdom of God. It seemed that they were being trained and purified for the hereafter.

Lord I pray that even as the Church experiences so much adverse publicity and rightly so; that we as Church will continue to endure in love and constancy of faith and hope, because we believe that this purification will in the end help to make us better Christians worthy of the Kingdom of God.  Amen.
