Peter went up to Jesus and said, “Lord, how often
must I forgive my brother if he wrongs me?
As often as seven times?”  Jesus answered, “Not seven,
I tell you, but seventy-seven times.

(Matthew 18:21-22)

Forgiveness is often hard for us especially when persons who are close to us hurt us and the perceived hurt cause us to grieve. We need to go to a place that is deep within us. In communion with God the Father from whom all strength comes we will be strengthened and forgiveness will come easily. When we forgive others we allow ourselves to be healed and we become free, free to continue to spread the love of God. God forgives us and we must forgive ourselves and forgive others.

Lord Jesus, at this time of lent teach us to forgive
others as we are forgiven. Amen
