"In
the name of the Lord Jesus Christ,
we urge you brothers to keep away from any of the brothers who refuse to work
for to live according
to the traditions we passed on to you."
(2 Thess 3:6)
St. Paul seemed to be quite pleased with the progress of the Thessalonians, and it appeared that he wanted nothing to throw them off course, so his letters to them were words of encouragement, congratulations and advice, much like a good parent. St. Paul’s words condemned idleness and reminded them to emulate the examples of the apostles. Paul gave them standards which they should follow and he sealed all these instructions with the prayer that The Lord of Peace Himself, will give them peace at all times and in every way.
Lord we thank you for the guidelines which you left us in the Ten Commandments, the Beatitudes and all your other examples of love of neighbour. Help us always to choose your Son to be our role model. We pray dear Lord that even in the midst of all that seems daunting: the many natural disasters, the idle ones among us who refuse to work, the crime situation and all the other ills, that we too will receive at all times and in every way, the peace which you alone can give. Amen
